Celebrating National Learn to Swim Day

National Learn to Swim Day – May 16, 2020

This year’s National Learn to Swim Day is May 16 and we at Jackrabbit Swim are doing our part to spread the message that swimming lessons help save lives.

What is National Learn to Swim Day?

National Learn to Swim Day is observed annually on the third Saturday of May. Beginning in 2012, Swimways founded National Learn to Swim Day, which dedicates itself to educating parents and children about water safety and the importance of learning to swim.

Summer is just around the corner, which means more families will be spending more time near the water. Or at least we can hope this year.

With drowning being the second-leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for children ages one to 14 (CDC,) National Learn to Swim Day is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of water safety.

At Jackrabbit Swim, we believe that every child should be given a foundation of safety around water. And that if we work together to promote the love of the water through swimming lessons, we can dramatically reduce this startling statistic and make the water a safe place for everyone.
