Champions Against Cancer – Barron Gymnastics

Giving back means a lot to us at Jackrabbit. We love seeing businesses around the world fundraising for great causes. Barron Gymnastics is one of those. They are dedicated to serving the community by teaching children and are very passionate about what they call ‘work.’

“Barron’s is like extended family and they make your child feel at home. They also love them like their own and have highly qualified enthusiastic staff.”

Champions Against Cancer was started after a little girl taking gymnastics at Barron Gymnastics was diagnosed with a very severe case of cancer last year. The Barrons were heartbroken and immediately started brainstorming ways to support this family. The first fundraiser was great and they just finished the second fundraiser. This has become an annual event for the business and has been rewarding for the Barrons, staff, students, parents and the hospital.

Barron Gymnastics partnered with Cardinal Glennon SportsCare, a premier pediatric sports medicine provider in the St. Louis area.  SportsCare generously donated t-shirts for this fundraiser. They were given out at the gym for a minimum of $10 for a donation which curated a good deal of buzz.

This lead up to the big event – Champions Against Cancer Night. Tickets were sold for the open gym for $30 and a family discount of $25. Over 75 children attended the 4 hour event to raise awareness for cancer, donate to this event, and have fun at Barron Gymnastics.

The really cool thing about this night is that the teachers donated their time! Because of this, 100% of the donations went directly to the campaign. There were no expenses against the event. The Champions Against Cancer Campaign raised a total of $5,000 for the Bob Costas Cancer Center in Cardinal Glennon, which was doubled from the first year.

All of this started from one child. The inspiration for Barron Gymnastics to give back and do more for their community has grown since.

“It goes hand in hand with what we do on a daily basis – working for kids.” -Scott Barron

We look forward to watching Barron Gymnastics continue this program and see the impact it has on their community.
