Saturday, September 20 is a day for gymnastics. It was started 16 years ago by USA Gymnastics with three main goals:
- To increase awareness and excitement for the sport of gymnastics
- To teach the importance of charitable outreach through sport and play
- To introduce gymnastics to youth who may not otherwise have the means to participate
Fun & Fit Gymnastics Centers has always held a Tumble-A-Thon for the Children’s Miracle Network, but this year they are helping out one of their own. They are going to raise money for Travis’ Give Forward Fund. Travis is the son of a former instructor at Fun & Fit, Becky Marshall.Â
Travis has been diagnosed with type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a genetic disease which causes system wide muschle wasting (atrophy). This condition, even in the best of circumstances, will require much ongoing medical care.
This week, leading up to National Gymnastics Day, a Tumble-A-Thon will be held in classes to give students an opportunity to personally help raise money for Travis and his family.
They will also celebrate National Gymnastics Day with an open gym with the proceeds for registration going to the cause.
We love seeing what our customers are doing for their community. How are you celebrating National Gymnastics Day?
