On March 7, 2013 Facebook announced one of it’s biggest changes in 9 years. Just a year and a half ago, the Timeline was released.
Now, a complete redesign with the Newsfeed has been announced.
The Newsfeed has a larger focus on visuals. Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg, said, “We want to give everyone in the world the best personalized newspaper in the world.”
Facebook has explained what this new design means to their users very simply:
Bursting With Color:Â Vibrant new visuals bring your News Feed to life.
Fresh Feeds:Â Get Facebook just how you want it with your choice of feeds.
Everywhere You Go: See the same clean look wherever you use Facebook — on mobile, tablet, or web.
In the News section, you’ll see a more detailed explanation of the new look for the Newsfeed. [Find it here.]
So, what does this mean for your business?Â
Start collecting visuals. Over 50% of the Newsfeed right now has some sort of visual. With the new design, visuals will be the way you tell your story. Larger photos, maps, videos, graphics, etc. will be shown for your friends and followers to see.
Understand that people do not read. They like to look.
Grab their attention. Stand out agains the other stories that are flooding their Newsfeed. How will you be different? What can you show your fans about your business? Give them a sneak peak, behind the scenes view, and things that not everybody  knows about you.
Don’t be afraid to be different.
