Applying Sochi 2014 To Lesson Plans

The Olympic Winter Games are in full swing and are so exciting to watch. Use this energy to motivate your students and push them to follow their dreams. How can you apply Sochi 2014 to your lesson planning?  It’s time to get creative.

What events can be used in your planning? Maybe some things can be done in pairs for a little competition. Tag team hula hooping? Running obstacle courses like ski slalom?

How can you use 5 rings in the Olympic logo? Swimmers could  pick up each ring from the bottom of the pool in a game.

Are you having a birthday party soon? How about using some of these Olympic craft ideas to entertain the kids?!

Mimick ice skating in their sock feet – mark off lanes for “races” and then show partners “sock feet skating” and do some turns and figure skating moves. It will be like the pairs competition!

The Olympics last through the 23rd of Feb so you still have some time to do this along with the Olympics – but there is also nothing from stopping you from carrying on the Olympic spirit after the games are over!

Also, there is always room for sharing a good story of the good samaritan. This is what the Olympics are all about and it is worth telling your students too.

What other ideas do you have for applying the Olympics to your school? We’d love to hear them!
