If you watched any of the Olympics in London this summer, you know who the Fierce 5 are. [The five members of the team are Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, Kayla Ross, and Jordyn Wieber.] The dynamite gymnastics team swept the competition and brought home the second ever gold medal for the United States in the women’s team competition. After the team competitions, Douglas won a gold medal in the individual all-around event and becoming the first African-American to do so. Additionally, Maroney won silver on vault and Raisman won bronze on balance beam and gold in the floor exercise.
So, what have these girls been up to since the Olympic games? They just finished a 3 month, 40 event Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastic Champions around the country. The top gymnasts were invited to be a part of the large cast for this tour to show off their skills and create a dynamic experience for the audience. This tour really showed the Fierce 5 how much support  athletes can receive from people all over the United States.
The Fierce 5 have been on the go since the Olympics with this tour and media appearances. With the tour finishing up yesterday, they will make it home to their families just in time for Thanksgiving. During an interview on The Today Show this morning, the girls were really excited to be able to have some normalcy and spend time with friends and family.
Of course, the “McKayla not impressed” face was discussed and each of the reporters gave a shot at it. Take a look at their attempts for a great laugh! Even President Obama asked McKayla to pose with her doing this face when the Fierece 5 visited the White House! What do you think, does Obama have this face down pat? He told McKayla that it’s an important face and he gives it at least once a day!
