Jackrabbit Technologies Dedicates Daytime and Evening Activities to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte

Local and Virtual Employees Take Advantage of Giving Back Opportunities as Part of Charlotte-Based SaaS Company’s Spring Meeting

Jackrabbit Technologies celebrated its community service partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte in 2 unique ways on April 29th – giving staff members opportunities for community service and fun!

Giving Back Lasts All Day Long

Not only did a beautification team from Jackrabbit work on specific projects on the House grounds, but Jackrabbit employees also joined a Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte Group at the Charlotte Knights Baseball Game that took place that same evening. The day of work and evening of fun was a great culmination for the industry leading software company’s first in-person meeting since before COVID-19. This gave many of Jackrabbit’s employees who are located all over the US and Canada and already traveling to Charlotte for the annual meeting to participate in a great community service effort!

Hands-on Efforts Beautify RMH-GC Grounds

One of the elements in the ‘backyard’ of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte is a Healing Garden to be available so parents and children staying at the House can enjoy solitude and reflection in a peaceful and beautiful outdoor environment. There is a babbling brook waterfall that leads to a pathway garden boasting a wire sculpture of a child.

Jackrabbit’s mission for this project was to add colorful plantings to beautify the area surrounding the wire sculpture and to ‘plant’ the artificial sunflowers representing the donations made to the Plant Joy: Adopt a Sunflower’ campaign that took place in April.

The Beautification team, made up of 26 Jackrabbit staff members, worked all morning to create the desired setting by planting flats of celosia, vinca, lilies, dianthus and hostas and topping everything with a nice layer of mulch. In the front yard, a few of the team of 26 broke away from the Healing Garden project to arrange sunflowers. 5,300 artificial sunflowers made up a beautiful display in celebration of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte’s 11th anniversary! Each flower represented a family served by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte programs over the past 11 years. The display beautified the entire neighborhood around the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte through May 31.

Fun is the Focus at Charlotte Knights Game

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte had a special evening of recognition and fun at the April 29 Charlotte Knights Baseball Game and as a community service partner, Jackrabbit was part of the festivities at the game. 37 Jackrabbit staff joined 713 others wearing t-shirts in celebration of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte programs that provide families of children suffering from critical illness with amazing and beneficial resources.

Jackrabbit’s CEO Mark Mahoney was on-hand to help welcome everyone on behalf of Jackrabbit Technologies and to throw out the first pitch. Jackrabbit’s mascot – a 10-foot-tall mascot named Zippy – ‘helped’ throw out the first pitch and greeted children and parents attending the ballgame.

  • Jackrabbit’s Zippy mascot for the game even has a unique story that makes him a perfect fit for playing the role of Zippy. Dave Stogdill, former Charlotte Bobcats, Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks mascot, runs the Literacy program for Charlotte Hornets. Read more about this connection with children.

Beautification at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte is going to be a long-lasting project for Jackrabbit. Now planned are both Spring and Fall beautification projects that are planned to cover a variety of scopes and sizes.

Charity and Partner Have First Opportunity to Move Past COVID-19 Challenges

Jackrabbit Technologies culture has roots in giving back. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte partnership provides a way that Jackrabbit can offer not only the facilities and programs support the partnership includes, it provides a way for the Jackrabbit team to come together with hands-on help in beneficial areas.

Jackrabbit believes there is no greater role than the one that enables a company to help families care for their children – especially when their children are ill. Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte does just that by providing facilities, resources, and caring people to families with children being treated in Charlotte’s hospitals. Our industry serves children by providing classes for everything from dance to child care so our child-centric focus is aligned with that of RMH. We’re excited to find fun ways to fulfill some of the physical needs of the Charlotte House and to promote the excellence of its program to the public.” – Mark Mahoney, Jackrabbit CEO and Co-founder

The partnership was born as COVID-19 dug in, but that didn’t deter Jackrabbit.

Jackrabbit even has Ronald McDonald House connections within its staff! Dan Heise shares a personal experience that his own family had with a Virginia Ronald McDonald House and one of the many reasons he is thrilled to be part of the Jackrabbit Technologies team.
