Charlotte, NC – October 30, 2019 – Jackrabbit Technologies made its support clear of the organizations on the front lines of the battle against the horrendous disease on the evening of October 19 by participating as a sponsor at the Baubles & Bowties Gala – a locally produced and hosted event that supports Dancers Against Cancer.
The Jackrabbit contingent was part of the 350 supporters attending the black tie event. Also in attendance was Zipperina – Jackrabbit’s 10-foot character mascot – to host a photo booth and provide photo ops to all!
Jackrabbit also participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Charlotte on October 8th and is sharing information via social media during October, as Breast Cancer Awareness month, to encourage early detection, research and treatment of breast cancer as well as other types of the disease.
The prevalence of cancer is devastating. Everyone knows someone who has been impacted by cancer or is experiencing the journey the disease leads you on for themselves.
In 2019, 1.8 million Americans have been or will be diagnosed with cancer. Breast cancer specifically, 268,600 women and 2,670 men will get the diagnosis, making it the most common cancer. To date, 2019 has brought 42,260 breast cancer deaths: less than lung & bronchus (142,670), colon & rectum (51,020) and pancreas (45,750). There are many other forms of cancer that have caused 325,180 deaths thus far in 2019. (Statistics from cancer.gov website)
Culture of support
Jackrabbit’s culture is one of caring, compassion and support. That culture includes the local and global community. In addition to its support of cancer fighting organizations, Jackrabbit Technologies was a sponsor and participant in Second Harvest of Food Bank’s Sort-a-Rama in addition to regularly working warehouse at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Jackrabbit also regularly supports Grain of Wheat International, a global Christian organization that helps to meet the basic needs of impoverished children, Metavivor and Red Cross Disaster Relief.
“Supporting our local and global community – especially those struggling with life’s basic needs – is an important part of who Jackrabbit Technologies is. Participation in the Baubles & Bowties Gala was an exciting event for us to help push out the message of the battle against cancer by raising money for Dancers Against Cancer. Miller Street Dance Academy did an amazing job making this year’s event special,” notes Jackrabbit Technologies’ co-founder and CEO, Mark Mahoney.
